The Bindhyabasini Temple (Nepali: बिन्ध्यबासिनी मन्दिर) is the oldest and one of the most significant temples in Pokhara, Nepal, with over 250 years of history. Located in Ward No. 2, Miruwa, the temple sits atop a small hill, 3,002 feet above sea level, offering stunning views of Pokhara city and the surrounding Himalayan ranges, including Annapurna and Machapuchare.
Dedicated to the goddess Bindhyabasini, an incarnation of Kali and a form of Bhagawati, the temple is a major religious site. The goddess is represented as a Shaligram stone. Daily worship starts at 4 am, and visitors can enter the main temple from 5:30 am. Saturdays feature hymns and prayer songs, creating a devotional atmosphere.
The temple is surrounded by a park-like setting, ideal for picnics, and essential shops for worship items are available on site. Autumn (September-November) is the best time for sightseeing due to the clear views of snow-capped mountains. The temple sees many pilgrims, especially during the Dashain festival.
