Description
Embark on an extraordinary journey through the revered Mt. Manaslu region and the captivating Tsum Valley, a 15-day trek exploring the Hidden Valley’s cultural richness and breathtaking landscapes. This adventure encircles Mt. Manaslu, the eighth-highest peak globally, standing at 8,156 meters, and traverses the Tsum Valley region, situated at altitudes ranging from 1,905 to 5,093 meters, boasting a tapestry of Tibetan culture, ancient traditions, and artistry.
The Tsum Valley, untouched by modern civilization, is predominantly inhabited by Tibetan Buddhist villagers whose daily rituals and lifestyle reflect their profound faith. Bordered by Boudha Himal, Himal Chuli, Ganesh Himal, and Siringi Himal, the valley features two significant villages, Chumling (Lower Tsum) and Chhaikampar (Upper Tsum), both steeped in Tibetan culture.
The trek takes us through lush landscapes adorned with Mani walls, chortens, and prayer flags, revealing the holiest Tibetan monasteries where renowned sages Guru Rinpoche and Milarepa once worshipped and meditated. Tsum Valley provides a serene environment for self-discovery and meditation, offering a pathway to inner peace.
Commencing the adventure with a drive from Kathmandu to Arughat, the trail winds through picturesque Budhi Gandaki Valley, passing through villages like Lapubesi and Tatopani, known for its therapeutic hot springs. The journey unfolds with mesmerizing views of mountain ranges, including Sringi Himal, as we progress towards Philim.
As the trek progresses through Chumling, Gumba Lungdang Pass, and Ganesh Himal Base Camp, we explore the cultural richness of Gurung and Thakali villages. Acclimatization in Samagaun sets the stage for further ascents to Samdo, Dharamsala, and the challenging Larke La Pass at 5,200 meters.
Descending to Bhimtang, surrounded by breathtaking peaks, the trail leads to Dharapani, marking the conclusion of the trek. The return to Kathmandu involves a local jeep ride to Besisahar and a bus journey.
