Beyond its scenic allure, the Annapurna Circuit trek offers a fascinating insight into the local customs and traditions of various ethnic groups residing in the region. Notably, it exposes visitors to the unique culture, heritage, and lifestyle of the Gurung community.

Stretching across central Nepal, the Annapurna Circuit Trek spans 100-145 miles, commencing with a half-day drive to Besisahar and a brief walk to Bulbule. The trek continues with an uphill journey, crossing several bridges en route to Chamje. The path leads through villages like Chame, Pisang, and Manang, where a stop allows the body to acclimatize to the challenging terrain.

The trek above Manang intensifies, and a rest day is wisely spent in the village before proceeding to Yak Kharka, a sparse settlement surrounded by yaks. The journey reaches its pinnacle with a strenuous climb to Thorong Phedi via Thorong La Pass, offering panoramic views of the Annapurna massif and Dhaulagiri.

After descending from the pass, the trail leads to Muktinath, a sacred site, and onwards to the rugged desert-like landscape of Jomsom. Passing through Kagbeni, trekkers can savor a hot spring bath in Tatopani before concluding the trek.

A short uphill walk to Ghorepani adds to the adventure, and the stunning views of Machhapuchre and Gangapurna are trekkers’ favorites.
