Seti River George

An interesting tourist attraction of Pokhara is Seti River, which cuts gorgeously through the Mahabharat range and, therefore, seems to disappear in caves and tunnels in many places along its route through Pokhara city. At various points Seti is barely 2 m wide but its depth reaches an astonishing 20 m! The river gorge can be seen from several spots in the city ie Mahendra Pul, K.I. Singh Pul and Prithvi Chowk Pul. From these spots, the river can be seen in all its ferocity gushing down the deep gorge that it has carved over millennia. Seti which literally means the White River originates from the Annapurna Massif.

The roaring Seti River passes right through Pokhara, but you won’t see it unless you go looking. The river has carved a deep, narrow chasm through the middle of town, turning the water milky white in the process. The best place to catch a glimpse of the Seti River is the park just north of Old Pokhara near the Gurkha Museum.

Seti River is famous for its deceptive river course and its milky white water. The water cuts a deep gorge right across the mighty Mahabharata range and then runs a deep chasm in the middle of the town. The gorge can be seen from a park in the Old pokhara close to the Gorkha Museum.

This rather strange Gorge located right in the heart of Pokhara looks like a combination of man made arrangements and natural formation.

The gorge is a deep ravine and the river is a man made arrangements of run-off water from a nearby hydroelectric reservoir.

Remove your shoes and socks and wear gum boots if you want to avoid the water splashing from the channel.

If you have no activities planned for the day, you may visit the Seti River Gorge.

Otherwise you can skip the rather artificial water fall.

It is suggested that the management can keep the place clean and also arrange a few chairs for the visitors.

It’s a nice gorge. The water is white in color as it flows through the mountains until here. The water is believed to be sacred.

1.1km long, this pedestrian suspension bridge offers some nice views. If you’ve never walked on one of these, here’s your chance. A 10 minute walk from the Gurkha Museum.

If you are traveling Pokhara, I would highly recommend you visit the Seti river gorge. This river flows directly from the Himalayas. It is also called a wild Himalayan river. Gorge is approximately around 60-80m deep.
