Trip Highlights
- Spectacular Scenery: Immerse yourself in the grandeur of high alpine passes, surrounded by colossal snow-covered peaks. At the heart of this panorama stands Manaslu, the world's eighth-highest mountain, soaring majestically to 8163 meters.
- Physically Challenging: Known for its physical demands, the Manaslu trek surpasses the difficulty of popular routes like Annapurna and Everest Base Camp. The mantra "no pain, no gain" rings true as you navigate challenging terrains.
- Larkya La Pass (5,106m): Traverse the highest point on the trek, Larkya La Pass, situated at an elevation of 5,106 meters. The trail leads you through glaciers, offering close encounters with towering peaks, including Mt. Himalchuli (7,893m), Mt. Ganesh Himal (7,422m), and the central figure, Mt. Manaslu (8,163m).
- Cultural Riches: Experience the cultural tapestry woven by Hindu and Tibetan-style Buddhist villages. Each village boasts unique architectural styles and traditions, contributing to the trek's rich cultural diversity.
- Off-the-Beaten-Track Appeal: The allure of the Manaslu trek lies in its remoteness, unspoiled scenery, and the charm of secluded lodges and guesthouses. Away from the crowds, you'll savor an authentic and tranquil trekking experience.
Trip Itinerary
Commence your journey at 5:30 am as your guide collects you from the hotel. Embark on an 8-hour road trip to Soti Khola, with the first four hours on sealed roads. From Dhading Bensi (1050m), the road transitions to an unsealed and slightly rugged path, leading to Arughat and Soti Khola, the district headquarters of Dhading.
Embark on the trail in the morning, traversing through woods along the Budhi Gandaki River’s banks. Descend to the riverbed, then follow a mountainous trail offering numerous views of the river below, completing the journey in 5-6 hours.
Today’s trail leads us across the Machha Khola River, passing Khorlabesi (920m) and arriving at Tatopani, renowned for its hot springs. Navigate a forested area, reaching the Dovan Khola and the Budhi Gandaki Valley. Ascend to Jagat Village in 6-7 hours.
Follow the trail through the valley to Sirdibas Village, offering a panoramic view of Shringi Himal. After crossing a suspension bridge, ascend steeply to Philim, passing waterfalls on both sides. Continue through Ekle Bhatti and Pewa Village until reaching Deng Village.
Experience a lung workout with a steep ascent, followed by a descent to the Budi Gandaki River. Pass through the valley, observing small settlements, and nearing Namrung Village, adorned with Mani stones. Take a short detour to Prok village (2-hour round trip) in the afternoon.
Wander between the Mani stone walls of Lho Village, offering timeless charm. A detour to the Pungen Glacier reveals a close-up view of Mt. Manaslu. Enjoy a 5-7 hour trek, witnessing Ngadi Chuli’s snow-covered peak.
Cross yak and cattle pastures, descending to the valley with grand views of surrounding peaks, particularly Manaslu. Reach the remote Tibetan refugee village of Samdo, close to the Nepal/Tibetan border. The afternoon is free for exploration.
Embark on a journey to Larkya La Pass (5106m), the trek’s highest point. Enjoy views of Larkya peak, Mt. Manaslu, Ratna Chuli, Cheo Himal, and other snow-covered peaks. Descend steeply, passing an iced-over lake, and continue to Bhimthang in 9-11 hours.
Descend across a large pasture, cross the suspension bridge over Dudh Khola, and traverse rhododendron and oak forests. A 6-7 hour trek leads to Dharapani in the Annapurna region, intersecting with the Annapurna trail.
Embark on a long road trip to Kathmandu, lasting 8-9 hours by public bus or 6-7 hours by jeep. The scenic drive takes you through lush green hills and terraced farmlands. On arrival in Kathmandu, relax in Thamel hotels, celebrating the trek’s completion.
